GMV

Gross Merchandise Value — total transaction value flowing through a platform before fees and costs.

Also known as: Gross Merchandise Value

GMV (Gross Merchandise Value) is the total value of transactions flowing through a platform or channel. In creator commerce, it is the headline number for the creator-driven sales channel — usually reported per cluster, per campaign, and per creator.

What it includes and excludes

GMV typically includes the full order value (product + tax + shipping) before refunds, discounts, and platform fees. Net revenue is the figure that hits the brand's P&L; GMV is the figure that sizes the channel.

Why it matters for creator commerce

Creator-driven GMV is the unit a CFO can compare against paid-acquisition spend and retail-channel revenue. A Creator Commerce OS reports attributed GMV per creator — joinable to CAC, LTV, and channel-mix models.
